Ones win against Folkestone

bcc-bg2

The 1st XI travelled down to Folkestone at the weekend and elected to bat.  Tom Carey (49) and James Weller (23) put on a solid opening stand of 78. Both lost their wickets in quick succession with Matt Lewis (7) shortly afterwards. However a Ricky Dale (30) and Josh Willis (40) supported by Rob Kennett (15) and Tyler Wassell (15 no) reached 217 for 6 at 45 overs.

Kesha Rajadurai (3 for 18), Ricky Dale (1 for 25) and Tyler Wassell (1 for 21)  all took early wickets as the home team team struggled to 27 for 3.  However a 92 run 4th wicket partnership looked threatening until a good stumping off Kesha removed one of the two danger men and Folkestone ended up losing three wickets for 1 run. With the wind knocked out of their sails the home team limped to 173 for 6 at the end of their innings giving the 1s a 44 run victory

The 2s looked like they would pick up a win at home against Offham.  After a good start by Offham with the bat, wickets tumbled regularly as the last eight batsman all failed to hit double figures as the visitors reached a modest 130 for 9 off their 40 overs.  Pick of the bowlers Joe Mills (3 for 17) Adam Rayner (3 for 13) and Daniel Covey (2 for 25).

After tea James Sutton (11) and John Heatley (19) started well but 4 wickets put the team under pressure.  Joe Mills (30) and Chris Wood (19) looked to have done enough but at 94 for 4 wickets began to fall and despite Tom Gunners 14  and Jacob Carter’s 10 not out the team fell just 6 runs of the target finding themselves all out in the 37th over.

A weakened 3s were away to a strong Rainham 4th XI who put Bapchild into bat.   Captain Lincoln Bryden scored 29 but unfortunately only Ella Hadler (13) and Isaac Pellatt (10) reached double figures in support as the team reached 98 for 9 in their allotted overs.

Rainham knocked off the runs in just 13 overs without the loss of a wicket

The Sunday XI game was abandoned due to the weather with Bapchild reaching 164 for 1 with 8 overs remaining – James Weller had reached 90 not out and Daniel Covey 33 not out before the wether took hold
