Last Ball Thriller !!

Freddie's Flintoffs!!

Another inter-club game took place at Radfield Hill on Friday 4th August.

A mixture of under 11’s and under 9”s took part with two teams of 8 playing the traditional pairs match.

Captain Freddie Corner won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Young Will Surridge and Oscar Sears opened the innings batting sensibly to get them underway.  Some big hitting mid-order from pair Finlay Downs and Simeon Laslett meant Freddie’s team ended up on a very respectable 277 for 2.

George Ward’s team started confidently chasing the total from the off.  Raef Fontelli batting in the second pair showed great maturity smashing some very useful boundaries in his innings.

It was nip and tuck throughout with some great champagne moments namely Will Surridge’s brilliant run out from mid-wicket to dismiss Tom Gunner with only one stump to aim at.

Best shot of the evening came from Tom Gunners when he lifted a ball through square for 6 runs with the most delicate of shots.

With Freddie’s team on 278 for 3 and one ball remaining it was left to Reece Scamp to play out and thus win the game

A real nail biter enjoyed by all who took part and parents alike watching in the gallery.
