It’s going down to the wire

Another incomplete match at the weekend means the 1st team will have a “winner takes all” against Borstal next weekend.

The 1st XI had entertained Offham and the visitors had elected to bat.  Harry Mantle (2 for 23) and Owen Harrison (3 for 26) picked up a couple of early wickets but Offham dug in although good bowling contained them to  158 for 7 off their 50 overs (Tom Carey 2 for 39, Ricky Dale 0 for 23, Tyler Wassell 0 for 34, Matt Lewis 0 for 9)

The 1st XI innings saw wickets fall regularly with Owen Harrison to score with 27 but the rain came and the game was abandoned at 33 overs with the team holding on at 120 for 9 and gaining 9 valuable points

The 2nd XI travelled to Chestfield and decided to field first.  Ben Wiebe-Williams (2 for 33) and William Cosstick (3 for 16) picked two early wickets before Chestfield batsman put on a stand. Lee Cogger (1 for 30) and Ben made the final break through and Dan Covey (3 for 25) supported by Will mopped up removing the home team for 149 on the last ball of the innings

John Heatley (27) an Rob Kennett (23) got the team off to a good start but unfortunately wickets fell regularly.  Daniel Gunner (17) and a fine knock from Lee Cogger (17 no) at No 11 could stop the Offham bowling attack and the team fell short frustratingly just 16 runs short from what would have been a valuable win.

The 3rd XI have completed their season and did not have a game

The Sunday XI didn’t have a game
