All three Saturday teams Win !

All three Saturday League teams won at the weekend

The 1st XI travelled Borstal CC and was put into the field. Tyler Wassell (3 for 35) picked up two early wickets supported well by Ben Weibe-Williams (0 for 24) and Adam Rayner (0 for 28).   Utilising the pressure that had been built up Kesha Rajadurai (4 for 11) and Ricky Dale (3 for 12) finished off the home team as they found themselves all out for 121 at the end of the 42nd over.  Kesha in the last two games against Borstal has bowled 18 overs, 11 maidens, 6 wickets for 11 runs – he has already put his name down for the return match !!!

5 early wickets looked like the team might struggle but a mature batting from Michael Willis (48no) and Ricky Dale (43no) saw the team home safely with 10.5 overs to spare.

The 2nd XI entertained Harvel CC and was put into bat by the visitors.  A couple of early wickets put pressure on the batting side but Alan Hampton (29), Nick Page (17) steadied the ship.   Wickets began to fall again again and the team found themselves 132 for 9 but a magnificent 43 from Harry Mantle supported by Ashley Bax (16) saw the last wicket partnership reach 172 at the end of the innings.

Harvel started strong but the introduction of Ashley Bax  (2 for 25) saw both openers removed.  Harvel continued to score but wickets from Alan Hampton (1 for 28) Harry Mantle (1 for 33) Lee Cogger (1 for 35) all contributed.  Dan Covey joined the attack and had an immediate effect taking 3 for 18 including a superb caught and bowled and left the visitors chasing the total and with the overs running out forced two run outs to see Harvel all out for 152 a the end of the 43rd over.  A great performance and nice to to the 2nd XI pick up their first win of the season

The 3rd XI also ppicked up their first win of the season while travelling to High Halstow and was put into the field.  Tom Gunner produced his best senior figures of 3 for 24 as he removed the top order supported well by Lincoln Bryden (0 for 13).  Jacob Carter also returned his best senior figures with 3 for 20.  A fantastic run out from Rob Kennett returning for his first game this season added the pressure on the home team.  Caleb Deveson (1 for 43) picked up his first senior wicket and Will Surridge (1 for 11) and Brian Carey (1 for 11) picked up one each as High Halstow found themselves all out for 126 at the start of the 37th over.

A couple of early wickets after tea but runs from James Elkin (38no) returning after a 6 year layoff and supported by Lincoln Bryden (17 no), Chris Wood (13), Will Surridge (12) and Yuvraj Rajgor (12) saw the team home with 5 wickets and 10.5 overs to spare.

The Sunday XI were at home against Staplehurst and were put into bat.   Captain Tom Carey after suffering 4 ducks in a row finally got off the mark.   Adding another 106 reached 107 not out means his Audi badge is sandwiched by two tons.  James Weller (52), James Sutton (34) and Ben Weibe-Williams (25) all contributed as the team reached an impressive 233 for 3 off their 40 overs.

A early wicket from Tom Gunner (1 for 30) set the team up well but an excellent 2nd wicket partnership took the game away.  Caleb Deveson added three more wickets to his weekend total (3 for 42), Oscar Hird (1 for 47) and James Sutton (1 for 10) picked up wickets but unfortunately not their top scorer who finished on 118 not out as Staplehurst crossed the line with 4 wickets and 3.4 overs to spare
