Nail Biting games for 1s and 2s

bcc-bg1

The 1st and 2nd team had two tense games at the weekend

The 1st XI travelled just down the road to Faversham and elected to field.  An early wicket from Alan Hampton put the pressure on but Faversham played their shots until Adam Rayner picked up the second wicket with Chris Knope catching behind the stumps.  Ricky Dale finally removed the key batsman and an excellent spell from Josh Hunt (5 for 35) including good catches from Matt Lewis and a well positioned Adam Rayner (Sorry Alan !) saw the home town reach 173 for 9 off their allotted overs.

An early wicket put some pressure on but a good partnership from Alan Hampton (31) and Ricky Dale (31) played down a good platform but four quick wickets looked like the team would struggle to reach the target. But a  fine mature knock from Matt Lewis (45 no) supported well by the remaining batsman the team reached the target with just one wicket to spare including a drop catch while the scores were tied.

The 2nd team also took it to the line in their home game against Ashford.  Putting the visitors into bat on a damp wicket the decision proved to be perfect as wickets fell and the batting side were bowled out for 111 in the 37th over with Glenn Kennett (3 for 16), Michael Neame (3 for 49) and Tyler Wassell (2 for 10) taking the bulk of the wickets.

Wickets fell early and continued to do so with Steve Pumfrett (62) shoring up the innings.  Requiring just 5 runs with four wickets and 20 + overs remaining victory looked certain. However Ashford continued to fight and the game ended with the scores tied as four wickets fell for four runs.

The 3rd team had to cancel their game this weekend

The Sunday XI travelled to Street End only to find the game had been cancelled.

Editor: The Chairman was picked for the 3rd Team, then the 2nd Team, then the 1st Team, then 1st Team scorer and ended up umpiring for Faversham – guys you only have to say !!!
