The Sunday Team picked a great first win against Leeds and Broomfield at the weekend
On winning the the toss Captain Ricky Dale elected to field. Ethan Collier got an early wicket supported by Steve Roberts but it took Ricky Dale (4 for 32) to remove the top order with strike bowlers Lee Taylor (2 for 27) and James Sutton (1 for 18) chipping in while supported by James Weller (1 for 53). At the end of the allotted 40 overs the visitors were on 196 for 9
An impressive 2nd wicket partnership between Steve Roberts (68) scoring his first half century of the season and Ricky hitting another fine 86 not out left Tom Carey (27) to help finish of the run chase with 8 wickets to spare.
On Saturday the 1st XI travelled to RACS. The home team put Bapchild into bat and the team got off to a good start with openers Adam Larking (23) and Lee Taylor (38) and then was backed up by Ricky Dale (22), Thomas Carey (30) Matt Lewis (27) and Chris Knope (27 no) and with the forecast of heavy rain Captain Lee Taylor decided to declare in at the end of the 41st over with the score on 182 for 8.
The decision looked perfect with Darrell Carter picking up 3 of 11 and Matt Roche 2 for 10 early on but with RACS on 41 for five the rain came stopping play in the at the end of the 20th over
The 2nd XI had a similar experienced the same problem with the rain at home to Shooters Hill. Again batting first a good start from Captain Rob Kennett (32) and Lee Cogger (15) followed by Glenn Kennett (26) Steve Pumfrett (21), Chris Hogg (26) and with he rest of the team chipping in they were bowled out on the last ball of the innings with the score on 180
The visitors started strongly passing the 100 mark with no loss but wickets fell regularly until the rain arrived with the opposition 132 for 5 in the 35th over.
The 3XI lost their first game of the season to Lordswood. Batting first only Simon Cosstick (43) and son William (17) made double figures as the team was bowled out for 92 in the 35th over
The fighting spirit continued and Lordswood struggled with the bowling of Shiv Patel (4 for 22) and Richard Catton (2 for 24) but they managed to reach the target in the 24th over but with six wickets down.
