The 2s beat 2nd place Holborough and Anchorians at the weekend to remain top with just two games remaining.
At home the 2s lost the toss and was put into bat. Alan Hampton (43) and Chris Knope (28) put on a 80 run opening partnership before Chris was given out LBW. Alan succumbed just two runs later leaving Paul and Will Surridge to rebuild. Unfortunately dad Paul decided to run son Will out before shortly afterwards giving a caught and bowled to remove himself. Adam Rayner (19no) and Steve Roberts (22) put on a 43 run partnership to steady the innings and Linc Bryden added 33 (not out) at the end as the team reached a respectable 192 for 5 from their 40 overs.
After the break good bowling and good fielding put pressure the visitors from the start. Ethan Collier (2 for 19) removed both openers early and with Steve Roberts taking 1 for 8 from his 9 overs it was always goung to be a tough chase from that point for Holborough. They tried to re group but Amith Lokesh (2 for 22) picked up a brace with a good variation in speed and flight including a stumping from Chris Knope. Toby Heather fielded exceptionally and his low throw from the boundary saw a good runout as the batting team collapsed to 54 for 6. Dan Covey (1 for 18) bowled well and Adam Rayner accurate bowling picked up 3 for 8 including a superb diving catch from Amith as Holborough was bowled out for 90 in the 33rd over. The 2s require just 9 points from two games to secure promotion.
The 1s travelled to Mersham Sports and elected to bat. Four early wickets meant the team found themselves 19 for 4 and a up hill struggle. Ricky Dale (31) and Joe Mills (12) tried to re-build but once dismissed only Ben Wiebe-Williams (13) and Tyler Wassell (11) reached double figures as the team found themselves all out for 103 in the 31st over.
Mersham knocked the runs off in just 17.1 overs with the loss of no wickets
Teh 3s and Sunday XI did not have games this weekend
