1st XI end first half of the season on top

The 1st XI won on Saturday to remain unbeaten and top of the league as the first half of the season came to a close.

Put into bat by visitors Borstal who were 2nd in the league Ricky Dale (45) and James Weller (26) put on a second wicket stand of 81.  Wickets fell regularly but a solid 25 from Michael Willis ensured the team had a total to bowl as they reached 172 before being all out in the 48th over.

Borstal started strongly and at 86 for 2 it was going to be a tough game but tight bowling from Owen Harrison (7 overs for 14 runs), Kesha Rajadurai (10 overs 1 for 17), Ricky Dale (10 overs 25) and Harry Mantle (10 overs 3 for 25) built the pressure and returning for a second spell Tyler Wassell (2 for 31) supported by Tom Carey (1 for 8) saw the visitor lose their last 8 wickets for just 30 runs giving the team a 46 run win.

The 2s travelled to Catford Wanderers and were extremely unlucky not to win. Reduced to a 28 over match by the weather the team out Catford into bat who managed to score 169 for 7 in their allotted overs.  Pick of the bowlers were Adam Rayner (3 for 26) and Lee Cogger (2 for 38)

42 from Lee Taylor and 37 no from Chris Hogg looked like the team would chalk up another win but they got bogged down for a few overs and unfortunately ended up 4 runs short at the end of their innings.

The 3rd XI game against Milstead was unfortunately cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch

The Sunday XI travelled to Exiles at Bishopbourne for their KVL match. Put into bat a superb 93 not out from Matt Lewis and 57 from James Weller set up a total of 203 for 2 from their allotted overs. Unfortunately the home team were up to it knocking off the runs with 6.2 overs and 6 wickets to spare
