The Second XI have gone top of their league beating Snodland in a low scoring match

On a rain affected Saturday where both the 1st XI and 3rd XI matches were cancelled the ground staff made a valiant effort to get the pitch ready in what became a delayed and reduced over match.

Snodland top of the table that morning elected to field and felt it to be the right choice when taking three early wickets.   Alan Hampton (43) and  captain Adam Rayner (22) steadied the ship and added valuable runs however, once they were both dismissed wickets began to fall regularly but a 17 not out from Archie Covey at the end would prove to be even more valuable.

Although Snodland lost two early wickets they looked comfortable at 52 for 3.  Ethan Collier (2 for 27) had removed the opener who was scoring freely. Alan Hampton bowled superbly taking 1 for 13 from 8 overs but it was Daniel Covey spell of 7 overs 5 for 24 that ripped the middle order apart with Adam Rayner (2 for 21) returning to pick up a brace meant the visitors were bowled out for 89 in the 30th over allowing the 2nd team top of the table.

The Sunday team were also playing top of the league Herne and again on a very damp pitch.   Electing to bat Bapchild scored slowly reaching just 110 for 6 in their reduced 34 over innings.  James Weller (27) Tom Carey (15) and Nick Page (25) getting the lions share of the runs.

Herne started strongly reaching 50 for no loss but Amith Lokesh (2 for 16) made the breakthrough.  Herne kept edging towards the target and at 70 for 2 it looked like they would reach the target.  However good bowling saw a massive collapse as the visitors lost 8 wickets for 36 runs leaving them just 4 runs short.  Ethan Collier (3 for 13), Tom Carey (1 for 9),  Dan Covey (1 for 13), Aaryan Rajgor (2 for 13) and Ella Hadler (1 for 16) all picked up runs in a good win

The U14 game was abandoned on Sunday as was the U12 game the following Thursday
