Bapchild Cricket Club

Season kicks off with friendly and colts training

Saturday 21st April saw a very pleasant and warm start to the 2018 season.   The U8, U10, U12 and U14 squads started their Saturday morning coaching session and the Club saw a first day record of 60 children turn up for practice.  It was great to see a lot of the existing colts (many who had grown over the winter !!) and a number of new children wishing to start their journey playing cricket.  The ladies in the kitchen did a great job and had to go out and buy more bread, sausages and milk due to the number of participants

In the afternoon the Club had a friendly against KCL Division 3 against Old Eltahmians CC.   Bowling first the team of mixed 1st, 2nd and 3rd players performed well bowling and in the field and were all out Old Eltahmiams for 164.  After tea Adam Watson and Calum Leary reached mid 20s but against a reasonable spin attack the team was all out just short of 100.

A good work out against a good team.

More friendlies next week against Saturday and Upchurch Sunday
