Both the 2nd XI and the Sunday XI both won at teh weekend to remain second in their respective leagues.
The 1s were at home to top of the league Mersham Sports on Saturday who won the toss and elected to bat. With a strong batting line up the visitors top four scored freely but the team plugged away and restricted them to 249 for 6 in their 45 overs. Dan Covey (2 for 49) while Harry Mantle, Ben Wiebe-Williams, Tom Carey and Matt Lewis all picked up one wicket.
Mersham picked up a couple of early wickets but a 60 from Tom Carey with support from the middle order Mike Willis (18), Nick Page (12) and Will Cosstick (15) the team tried hard to get back into the game but the good spin attack saw the team bowled out for 136 in 40th over.
The 2s travelled Holborough Anchorians and were put into bat on an “interesting” wicket especially as the team found themselves three down for five runs. Captain Adam Rayner (28), Lincoln Bryden (26), Ethan Collier (15 no) and Tony Hadfield (13) dug in and scored valuable runs as the team reached 117 for 9 from their 40 overs.
Bowling had to be tight after tea and the bowling attack responded accordingly with Ethan and Amith Lokesh (9 overs 1 wicket for 12 runs). Adam Rayner (1 for 14) and Tony Hadfield (2 for 23) kept the pressure on. Wickets continued to fall with Jay Sharma picking up a brace (2 for 18) and between Lincoln (1 for 18) and the return of Ethan (9 overs 3 wickets for 15 runs) the home team found themselves all out 14 runs short in the 37th over. The 2s remain in second place.
The 3s didnt have a fixture this weeked.
The Sunday XI travelled to Challock and was put into the field. Ben Wiebe-Williams (4 overs 1 wicket 2 runs) got an early breakthrough and was well supported by Ethan Collier (5 overs for 11 runs). A change of bowling saw Amith Lokesh (1 for 17) and Aaryan Rajgor (1 for 25 ) also pick up wickets. Daniel Covey (2 for 12) removed the danger batsman and wickets fell quickly thereafter with James Weller (2 for 9), George Ward (2 for 17) and Ella Hadler (1 for 11) all chipping in as Challock found themselves all out for 118 in the 36th over.
A fine opening stand from Yuvraj Rajgor (53 no) and Tom Carey (36) took the game almost to the close as the team crossed the line with 9 wickets and 17 overs to spare
The U12s won their game against Rodmersham scoring 137 (net 132) for loss of just one wicket and Rodmersham were 291 for 3 (net 276) in reply
The U14s lost their game to Faversham
