The 2s won another low scoring game to remain top of their league
Away to Linton Park 2s the team elected to field. Tom Gunner (2 for 30) removed both openers but at 43 for 2 the home side looked comfortable until Ethan Collier (1 for 21) and Archie Covey took two quick wickets for just 2 runs. Archie (3 for 24) continued to remove the middle order and captain Adam Rayner mopped up with 4 for 12 supported by Dan Covey (5 overs 0 for 10) and Amith Lokesh (4 overs 0 for 15) as Linton Park were all out for 114 in the 37 over.
In a similar way to the first innings the team looked comfortable at 53 for 3 with opener Chris Wood .(27) scoring well. However 3 wickets for 9 runs saw the pressure start to build but the team edged closer to the required target and at 87 for 6 looked like they were almost home. The game was not finished when the home team picked up 3 more wickets for 5 runs and at 92 for 9 Linton Park sensed victory. Ethan Collier (23 no) and Ben Gunner (10 no) decided differently as they saw Bapchild home in the first ball of the 28th over with one wicket to spare.
The 1s played Upchurch at home and were put into bat. The team got off to a reasonable start and at 73 for 2 hoped to build a platform. Unfortunately Tom Carey’s dismissal (51) dented the hopes as the team tried to rebuild partnerships Nick Page (20), James Sutton (10) Ricky Dale (18) and Ben Wiebe-Williams (19) all chipped in but the team found themselves all out 141 with three balls of the innings remaining.
Ben picked up an early wicket but their overseas player proved key as Upchurch crossed the line inthe 27th over with 8 wickets to spare – Harry Mantle (1 for 24) picking up the other wicket.
The 3s entertained Linton Park 3s in the weekends double header. Put into bat Kev Miles (48) and Aaryan Rajgor (12) got the team off to a strong start. Wickets fell after drinks but a 50+run partnership between captain Linc Bryden (33) and The Chairman (24 no) got the innings going again and a quick fire 10 from Will Roe at the death saw the team reach 161 for 7 off their 40 overs
A couple of early chances went begging but the Linton openers then gave nothing away as they crossed the line comfortable wit 9 wickets and 4.1 overs to spare – Lincoln (1 for 20) picking up the only wicket
The Sunday XI did not have game this weekend
