2nd XI and Sunday both win

bcc-bg1

Both the 2nd XI and Sunday XI both won at the weekend to remain top and 2nd in their respective leagues

.

The 1s travelled to Borstal and elected to bat.   Unfortunately four of the top 5 failed to reach double figures with only Jame Weller (60) putting up any resistance.  Ricky Dale (20) and James Sutton (25) supported James from the middle order but once out wickets tumbled as the team reached 169 for 9 off their 45 overs.

A strong batting order from the home team saw them home with 3.1 overs and 7 wickets to spare. Rick Dale (1for 24), Harry Mantle (1 for 38) and James Weller (1 for 20) picking up the wickets

The 2s entertained Cobham and elected to field.  The visitors started strongly until Will Surridge caught one of the openers off Haris Khan (1 for 21).   The pressure was kept on Amith Lokesh (7 overs 0 for 24) and Archie Covey (7 overs 2 for 17) both bowled well.  Cobham felt comfortable reaching 90 for 3 but Dan Covey (4 for 11) and Adam Rayner (3 for 6) destroyed the remaining batting for just 16 runs

Chris Knope (50 no) opened the batting with Paul Surridge (18) and they reached 68 before the first wicket.  Three more wickets fell before Chris steered the team across the line with 17.1 overs to spare – a win by 6 wickets leaving them still top of the division

The 3s travelled to Minster and unfortunately came up against a much stronger team then expected.  Glenn Kennett was dismissed for 9 but Kev Miles (40) and Tony Corollo (29) put on a good 2nd wicket stand.   Eythn Corollo (14) and Celeb Deveson (11) chipped in but a calypso 40 from captain Linc Bryden towards the back end of the innings saw the team reach a respectable 175 for 9 from their 40 overs.

Unfortunately Minsters batting line up proved to strong as their overseas player scored a ton.  Minster crossed the line with 9 wickets and 15 overs to spare.  Henry Louden (1 for 36) picking up the only wicket and the only other highlight being Kev Miles difficult attempt to catch a snow ball in swirling winds and brilliant sunshine ……. so he tells us !!!!

The Sunday XI were away to Nelson who put Bapchild into the field.  Haris Khan (1 for 32) and Ethan Collier (2 for 18) made early breakthroughs as the home team found themselves 13 for 2.   Nelson tried to rally but good bowling from Ben Wiebe-Williams (6  overs 0 for 5) and Archie Covey (5 overs 1 for 17) kept the pressure on.  Amith Lokesh (2 for 25) and Dan Covey (3 for 17) broke any resistance and Ella Hadler (5 overs for 13) also bowled well at the end as Nelso were restricted to 145 for 9 from their 40 overs

Tom Carey (86 no) and Jame Weller (26) put on an 84 run opening stand which took the game away from Nelson and the team crossed the line with 5 wickets and 15 overs to spare
