The 1st XI and 3rd XI both won their matches this weekend
The 1s were at home against Tonbridge CC and on winning the the toss decided to put the visitors into bat. Joe Mills (1 for 37) once again picked up an early wicket and was supported well by Wassell Tyler (0 for 29). However, Tonbridge’s remaining top order batted well all scoring over 25 a piece but Ricky Dale (1 for 35) and Harry Mantle (1for 33) made the crucial breakthroughs. Each time the visitors tried to rebuild the bowlers pegged them back and when Tom Carey (3 for 20) and Kesha Rajdurai (2 for 41) removed the middle order Tonbridge was kept to just 201 for 8 in their 45 overs.
Tom (51) and James Weller (45) put on an opening stand of 120 to set the chase up and although Tonbridge picked up wickets 33 from Joe Mills, 24 from Mike Willis and a swash buckling 15 from Tom Gunner saw the team home with two overs and 6 wickets to spare.
The 2s travelled to Upchurch and was put into the field. The home team got off to a reasonable start but Ethan Collier (3 for 55) and Haris Khan (2 for 26) pegged them back taking three wickets between as the score reached 68 for 3. Upchurch’s opener together with their middle order put on 111 for the loss just two wickets before Dan Covey (1 for 44) and the returning Ethan made the breakthroughs. Adam Rayner picked up one wicket (1 for 40) and Archis Covey bowled well (0 for 28) as Upchurch reached 193 for 8 off their 40 overs.
An early wicket didnt help the chase but Paul (25) and Will (29) Surridge batted well and similarly to the first inning the team found themselves 56 for 3. Unfortunately the similarity stopped there as wickets tumbled as the team lost 6 wickets for just 40 runs. Dan Covey (36 no) and Archie Covey (14 no) dug in and batted sensibly picking up valuable batting points putting on 44 runs as the team finished on 140 for 9 at the close of play.
The 3s were at home to Sheppey and decided to field. Henry Louden (2 for 15) set the tone early removing two batsman in two balls and Lee Cogger (2 for 22) also picked up a brace to put the pressure on the visitors. Eythan Carollo (2 for 25) joined the party of braces helped by a top class “one for the highlight reel” catch from Tony Hadfield and Aaryan Rajgor (3 for 13) bucked the trend picking up 3 wickets using both seam and spin. George Ward (5 overs 0 for 18) bowled well and Nilesh Rajgor (1 for 1) finished the visitors innings as Sheppey found themselves all out for 97 at the end of the 38th over.
Lee (25) and Aaryan (12) got the teeam off to a good start and Tony (23) and Tony Corollo (37no) saw the team almost to line as the 3s passed the target 10 overs and 7 wickets to spare
