Bapchild Cricket Club

1st Team Summary – 2011 Season

2011 saw Bapchild Cricket Club get off to one of its best season starts since returning to the Kent League. The first game against Blackheath saw the visitors scoring 212 and with Bapchild at 149 for 7 things looked bleak but a great partnership by Alex Ward (47) and Dylan Lee (38) saw us home with an over to spare.

The following week saw us travel to Chislehurst where a superb knock by Adam Larking (134 no) supported by Alan Hampton (70) saw the team reach 297-6. In return the home team scraped a draw scoring 194 for 9 off their allotted 50 overs – Joshua Hunt (4-45).

Bromley Town was next up and Bapchild scored 199 with another fine knock from 15 year old Dylan Lee (45) with the visitors being bowled out for 137 – Matt Roche (4–20).

A losing draw to Cowdrey the following week was followed by a good win against Bickley Park with Adam Larking (70) and Cameron Archbold (39) helping Bapchild to 263. Matthew Roche’s magnificent 5 for 5 saw Bickley all out for 102.

Offam brought us back to earth bowling us out for 90 the following week and Wickham Park was lost to weather but a 77 run win against Walmer saw us end June on a high – Adam Larking (64), Alan Hampton (5-42), Matt Roche (4-35).

A mid-season slump due to holidays, weddings and work saw Bapchild losing to Nonnington – Lee Cogger (43), Blackheath (lost), Chislehurst (abandoned), Bromley Town (lost) – Dylan Lee (60), Cowdrey (losing draw) – Dylan Lee (58), Alex Ward (50), Bickley Park (losing draw) – Joe Mills (42), Offam (Lost) – Cameron Archbold (56). Even after a great start to the season we now found ourselves in the relegation battle.

Pressure eased the following week when we went to Wickham Park and bowled the home team out for 104 – Roche (5-9). A drying wicket saw Bapchild three down for two runs but a superb partnership from Adam Larking (70 no) and Ricky Dale (25 no) saw us home without further loss.

Walmer was abandoned and our final game against Nonnington who were looking for promotion saw Bapchild chasing 242 but not getting close with a poor all out for 59. The opposition Griggs (6 for 31) not only ripped through our batting line up but secured the League bowling award from our very own Matt Roche who missed out winning the award for a third consecutive by just two wickets.

We finished a comfortable 7th and look to build on our very young side in 2012. Special mention must go to Adam Larking who had a great year with the bat scoring 430 runs in 13 matches at an average of 45.6.
