The 2013 season brought a flurry of maiden centuries with James Sutton leading the charge with a wonderful 100 for the 2nd team against Mersham CC in a Division EAST A Kent Regional game

Joe Mills then took over scoring 106 Not Out in approximately 70 balls against Rainham CC in a Kent League match for the 1st team

Not to be out done Dylan Lee also scored his maiden century shortly afterwards in a Kent Village League Division 1 game against Wingham

It looked like they would both share the best batting performance but in a final twist Simon Cosstick scored 111 against Leeds and Broomfield in the final Kent Regional League game of the season.

It should be mentioned that Simon scored a total of 237 in just 6 innings – with his second highest score being 96 means he definite likes to score big or not at all !

Finally a mention to our other maiden century of 2013 which was Joe Cooper in a pre-season friendly

A GREAT EFFORT BY ALL AND CONGRATULATIONS !

Congratulations to Josh Hunt who won a South-East Counties competition to have a one hour master class with England coach Andy Flowers.

Josh was specially selected, after being nominated by Kent County Cricket Development team, above other coaches from across the South East of England for his contribution to the growth of grassroots cricket in the area.

Josh was given the exclusive opportunity to attend the session with, the then England Team Director, Andy Flower, as part of the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education programme, which aims to attract and train cricket coaches in England and Wales at all levels. Josh attend the training session with fellow Bapchild coaches Nick Page and Alex Ward as well as KCB’s Adam Hodder and Buzz Gould. They took part in an interactive session, where they learnt about the techniques Flower uses to train the England team.

Josh Hunt started coaching at his local club, Bapchild CC and has gone on to be instrumental in the development of youth networks between schools and the club in the district. At Bapchild, he is lead coach for his allocated Under 13 age group and he has also continued to support the local District Development Officer in coaching in schools. Josh now works as a Community Coach with Kent Cricket Board where he continues to develop his coaching abilities and inspire young cricketers in the County.

Commenting on being recognised by the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education programme, Josh Hunt said:

“To be recognised for my efforts in coaching is a great honour for me. Getting to meet Andy and learning about England’s training methods makes it all the more special. I am already looking forward to implementing some of the techniques I learnt today at my coaching sessions in Kent.”

Reflecting on the session, Andy Flower, England Team Director, said:
“This programme highlights how coaches at grass roots level are vital to developing the players of the future.

It was great to meet these young coaches today and hopefully they can take some of the techniques back to working with their local clubs and schools.”
